Print the chart once and you grade the whole stack by counting red marks and reading across, no retyping per paper. The math is the plain shop formula: (total − wrong) ÷ total × 100, rounded to as many decimals as you choose. Letter grades use the A 90 / B 80 / C 70 / D 60 / F scale. Half-credit questions are fine — enter a decimal total like 12.5 and the chart steps in half-points. This is grading a single paper, not a course average: if you need to combine homework, quizzes and exams by weight, use a weighted or final-grade calculator instead. Everything runs in your browser, with one-click score copy and a shareable link that reopens the exact test.

Set questions to 25 once, print the lookup chart, and mark 30 quizzes by counting red Xs and reading across: 1 wrong is 96 percent (A), 3 wrong 88 percent (B), 10 wrong 60 percent (D). No per-paper typing, no mental math at the desk.
Tune grade boundaries while writing the test
On a 40-question exam each wrong answer costs 2.5 percent, so a B starts at 8 wrong and a C at 12. Bump the total to 50 and the chart refreshes: each miss now costs only 2 percent. You set the cutoffs before anyone sits the test.
Common pitfalls
Typing the score you want into the answers box: it holds how many were missed, so 90 on a 100-question test means 90 wrong, not a 90 percent grade.
Treating the band edges as exclusive: exactly 80 percent is a B and exactly 70 percent is a C, so a paper on the line takes the higher letter.
Faking a course average by setting total questions to the number of assignments: this grades one paper and ignores weights, use a weighted-grade calculator instead.
Privacy
The score, letter grade and full chart are all computed in plain JavaScript inside your browser tab; no question count, student result or grade is sent anywhere or logged. Note that the share link puts the totals into the URL, so use the copy button if you want even the counts kept off any server.
