Common pitfalls

  • Mixing rim diameter into the diameter math. The 17 in 225/45R17 is the wheel, not the tire. The overall tire diameter adds two sidewalls on top of the rim. People who eyeball '17 inches' as the tire size are off by more than 8 inches.
